+LOVE HIS-STORY+

My obsession towards Greek comes in many ways. Forget about draperies of the fabric they wore, the mesmerizing hairstyles, Perfection of their Gods bodies. Greece was one of the earliest civilized country and I'm so interested in the way they presents their art without feeling sorry exposing nudity in a best way. Since I was a kid, I've never thought their nude statues or paintings as a pornography. I still haven't found the answer is it because of the perfection of the execution or the amazingly great body they captured. From what I know, in their golden era I've heard a lot of same-sex relationship stories which becomes legendary. And I can't imagine if I live in that era, having affair with some statue-esque bodied male. And by that  I'm doing a little idle research about the histories of their Gods and other myths that having homosexual tendencies. Oh not all of the stories are Greek some of them are from different eras and areas.

Apollo and Hyacinthus

This is actually the most common known gay story between the Gods. Apollo is the God of light and knowledge, Who's having a relationship with his lover Hyacinth. Hyacinth is a divine hero with handsome face that admired by Zephyr, God of the wind. It was the time when Hyacinth and Apollo throwing discus, Hyacinth tried to catch it to impress Apollo but in a jealous rage, Zephyr blew the discus and hit Hyacinth, injured and died. Apollo didn't allow Hades, God of the dead, to claim the boy but make a flower out of his spilled blood with a stained on its petal by the tears of Apollo. It's a romantic elegy between two love birds who can't be unite not because the difference of God and human, but rage and jealousy.

Hermaphrodite

Surprisingly, the name Hermaphrodite is derived from the name of his parents "Hermes" and "Aphrodite". The myth behind is quite unique. Hermaphrodite was born as a handsome boy. He bored with his life and travel to the woods of Caria until he met a Naiad nymph called Salmacis in her pool. Salmacis drove crazy by the lust for the boy and try to seduce him but he rejected(from this story I can conclude that Hermaphroditus is homosexual for rejecting her seduction). When he thought her to be gone, he undress and come into the empty pool. He doesn't know the pool can turn any men who bath in it became soft and effeminate. Salmacis jump out from behind the tree, forcibly kiss and touch him. She wrapped her legs around him and pray to be united him forever. God answer her prayer and they become one form "creature of both sexes".

Achilles and Patroclus
This one is quite controversial. Many people consider their relationship as a platonic love and friendship only. Even though I personally believed it's possible to find a romantic relation between them. Achilles was a Greek hero of Trojan war and greatest warrior of Homer's Lliad. Lliad is where he met Patroclus. They both great warrior who mostly fight for the city-state or personal fame but in the Lliad, Achilles fight for Patroclus. After Patroclus dies, Achilles lamenting and having a deeply mourn and touching his dead body. Achilles turn from strong and unbreakable into emotional and vulnerable character. He even took revenge by killing Patroclus' killer even though it would cost him his life.

Alexander the Great and Hephaestion

Almost having the similar story, the relation between Alexander and Hephaestion relates to war and heroic actions. Hephaestion is Alexander's childhood best friend and even from this early age he's already have a sense of protecting Alexander. He became Alexader's personal body guard and fight with him in many wars even in India. If you watched the movie, it was extremely romantic and way too obvious about the affection between them. Alexander even told Hephaestion he's the only one and never leaves him. Hephaestion died before Alexander, it becomes such a big thunder strikes to Alexander's heart.

+CAN'T PERFORM NAKED+

The first time I've ever made clothes is a costume for my own dancing performance in Junior High. I know not so many people having a sense of drama to put in an outfit, but since I always love to steal attention so I guess costume designing is a match to be married with my imagination. In fact, most of fashion students, especially in my college, not really interested in costume designing. I personally don't know the obvious reasons, is it because of the complexity of the process or is it just because local urban ready to wear clothing line sounds more luxurious and modern than just doing a high risk garment making and just worn once for performances. I have Great GREAT enthusiasts in practicing fashion as an art which I believe Tom Ford won't agree with me, but who else will making an eye candy in movies and other performing arts?
I can never get enough praying just to be as successful and dedicated as these costume designers who's already brought Oscar trophies home.

Eiko Ishioka
This late madame from Japan is famously known as the costume designer of movies like "Mirror Mirror","Immortals",and "Bram Stoker's Dracula". It's so hard to believe that she made for all of my favorite movies I already mentioned. She was also dressed the ferocious "Grace Jones" whose no wonder keep making a crazy sensational shows with her outfit. Bjork's album Cocoon is also directed by her. Eiko is already passed away last January 2012 which makes me feel "Lacrymosa" to hear the obituary.

In "Immortals" the costumes, properties and the COLORS are so oh extremely ah-mazing. The way she made the headpiece, helmets and even the accessories it looks seriously well developed from the ideas to the realization.

Colleen Atwood

Okay, this is the person who contributes a lot in my passion of fashion. I told you I start it from costumes and Colleen's creation in Tim Burton's movie is a seed of love inside my interest in costume. This 64 years old lady famously known making clothes for movies like "Alice In Wonderland","Sweeney Todd","Chicago","Memoirs of a Geisha", "Lemony Snicket" and "Snow White and The Huntsman"(ALL OF THEM ARE MY FAVORITE MOVIES). There's a strange opinion of mine who consider Colleen as Alexander McQueen of costumes.

+YOUR FACE WILL BE ON THE ROOF OF MY BED FROM TODAY+

I can’t help myself away from acrobatic, athletic and body bending sport things. It runs through my blood to instantly obsess with good looking guys with inspiring body shape. My mouth can’t hold drooling over him the first time I saw Danell Leyva with my mom on TV. We both agree to admit his beauty and talent with statement “God Has Made Him In A Very Good Mood”. This Cuban male gymnast is only a year younger and not taller than me, BUT WHY ON EARTH he looks like almost reaching 2meters roof and perfect!  He’s like a prophet of my fantasy!

This is the part i say BINGO! I got this photo from ESPN magazine "the body issue".

+REACH 2012+

So this is where I spent for the last 6days outside hot hot Jakarta. It’s a very great event developed by Buddha Dharma Indonesia Foundation every year in Mega Mendung, West Java. A summer camp which really concern about any kind of art that mostly didn’t taught enough at schools. There are so many classes like fashion, singing, stomp dance, cooking and etc. The participants are from all over Indonesia. It’s such a great experience for having new friends, to learn new cultures and learn how to socialize.
Most of the participants are from elementary school students to college students. I wasn’t there to be one of the students of course, I was invited to be one of fashion teachers with my college lecture Ichwan Thoha.  This is my second time invited to be fashion teacher in this event, last year I taught fashion history, but this year I taught fashion concept and its correlation with music. It’s more like holiday for me than work, the atmosphere is extremely fun and fulfilled with EXTREMELY NICE people. You can’t be angry, no matter how.
The first day we came, we’re having a little tour around the location. This is Myogan Ji temple, a Japanese Buddha temple which crowded by congregation every 5 am and 5 pm.

These are graves of the first person who brings the religion. Buried besides his wife. "'till death do us part".
We found this ancient Japanese style house, it looks like half buried. We're so ecstatic to take a photo, reminds me of houses in movie The Ring. Thanks Donna for taking this photo.

Gang of fashion class on Youth Monument. At the end of the event every students gather here to read the writings on monument like an oath ceremony.
Each contingent from all over city has to make a monument or an installation that represents their meaning of the contingent name, and their passion. One of the installation almost made me cry, because I really get the meaning of it and so inspiring. And I even  forgot to take a photo of it, silly me.

This installation is my favorite. So bionic, steam punk, futuristic yet post-apocalyptic. It matches my ring!

Ah-mazing installation from REACH committee. Fashion crews are a bit narcissistic. Had to be!

And this is me teaching. Most of my friends always say 'kinky' when I told them I teach. I don't get why, I just take it as a compliment. lol.
These are mood boards they've made with various concepts related to music genres. It divided by three big genres: Jazz, Rock, and Dang Dut. Then it divided into sub genres. This year they don't dress the model, but dress the singers.
With so many choices of clothes and accessories, There are still some racks of clothes around the class. who can handle not to try?

Oh  I obviously CAN'T! I found this white lace blouse which..looks good on me

This is me with Rika, singer participants who sang 80's rock song "Tua Tua Keladi". Femme Fatale is their theme for the show. I've made the flogger by my own hand in 20 minutes!
I looked a bit like cow in that photo.By the way, only the singer who's allowed to wear shoes, it's like their culture to bare foot inside room, especially when the venue of the show is actually a Vihara.

Those are singers on stage, receiving comments from the judges. They're having nice performance for singers who just learn to sing for only 6days. I'm so hoping to come back again next year to spread knowledge and absorbs fun and passion of youth.
